Leon’s 100th Anniversary Celebration
Carol White

Under normal circumstances the birthday child receives all the presents. Such was not the case on April 20th, 2009 when Cornwall’s own Leon’s Furniture store celebrated its 100th Birthday this year with a very generous gift to the Cornwall Community Hospital. As part of a plan to donate furnishings to hospitals across Canada, Terry Leon, President and CEO of Leon’s Furniture Ltd. was on hand to unveil a newly furnished family room in our hospital’s Maternal Care ward. This generous gift will allow families to enjoy all the comforts of home while visiting new mothers and babies on the 6th floor wing.

Referencing Leon’s “Miracle Event” marketing slogan, Foundation Chair Roy Perkins said “Every donation is a miracle – large or small, but this donation of furniture for a room where families can enjoy the miracle of birth was an exceptional miracle all on its own.”

Terry Leon, and Cornwall Leon’s store owners - McKercher brothers Paul, Mark and Peter, joined local dignitaries, Hospital and Foundation representatives, media and the public as they gathered at the Marleau Street store to celebrate with speeches, anniversary cake and employee awards. As part of the celebration 100 signatory yellow balloons were released into the bright blue sky to find their way to all parts of SD&G, one of which contained a gift certificate for a state-of-the arts flat screen TV for some lucky person.

Thank you Leon’s Furniture and Happy Birthday!
