Young Philanthropist – Keelan Smith - Strikes Again
Carol White
Keelan Smith, the “Kid with Class” who has taken a fancy to fundraising for worthy causes in the Cornwall area has come through with his earlier promise to raise funds for the Cornwall Community Hospital Pediatrics Ward.
We first met Keelan in February 2009 when he arrived at the Foundation office with his mother Kathleen to advise us of his plans. Keelan was sporting very short hair at the time having recently shaved his head for cancer. His track record includes collecting food and toys for the Agape Centre and we understand he has a few other accolades up his sleeve.
Keelan understood the need for children to be entertained to help fill in the long hours while hospitalized. His goal was to raise enough funds to purchase a few electronic games for the kids.
On June 17, 2009 Keelan was proud to make true on his promise and met with Registered Nurse and Team Leader for Maternal Child, Teresa Jarvo – Maternal Care to hand over his donation of a brand new Game Cube bought with funds he raised. Keelan also donated a collection of used videos, a Playstation, a VCR and much more. One is never too young to care about the needs of others.
