Dreams Come True with $102,997 for Operating Room Equipment
Carol White
November 21st, 2009 set the stage for Christmas as you’ve never seen it! With enormous hot purple and silver Christmas balls, oversized 3-D Christmas cards and blasts of LED light reflecting off huge sails, NAV CANADA was once more transformed into a “Dreamland” that held an almost “Alice in Wonderland” spell over the more than 500 guests in attendance. The ultramodern theme of the 2009 Dreams Do Come True Wine & Cheese and Silent Auction provided the perfect backdrop to the warm ambiance patrons have come to expect of this annual community fundraiser in support of Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation’s equipment appeal.
“Dreams” as it has affectionately been dubbed by the community has become the area’s “not to be missed” kick-off to the Christmas season. This year’s guest list included many of our faithful revelers but also welcomed many new guests. Friends, family, businesses and individuals come to Dreams each year to catch up on news, share holiday wishes and enjoy the fabulous food and wine. This year featured mountains of smoked trout and sushi in addition to quality cheeses, succulent shrimp, roast beef and tasty desserts and as in the past, was complemented by a large selection of fine wines and ales - all presented and served beautifully by the professional staff at NAV CANADA. The magnificent silent and live auction contributes to the excitement and continues to please the crowd year after year.
Organized by a volunteer committee and supported by sponsors and donors of the community, the annual event raises funds for the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation’s equipment appeal. This year not only was the goal of $70,000 exceeded but the hospital will receive a cheque for $ 102,997.20to purchase much needed Operating Room equipment.
On behalf of the Dreams committee, Co-Chairs Julie DeYoung and Michelle Longtin would like to thank the community for their support again this year. None of this would be possible without you, the community. The result was a spectacular evening that sprinkled a little enchantment into everyone’s lives while raising money for local health care. You support it, donate to it, and attend year after year. Thank you for making Dreams Come True. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next “Dreams Do Come True Wine and Cheese and Silent Auction” on Saturday Nov. 27, 2010 at NAV CANADA.
